OCTOBER 2015 UPDATE
:
“But the LORD
said to me. ‘Do not say I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you
to and say whatever I command you”. God‘s assurance of his presence to the
prophet Jeremiah is an assurance to all generation of God’s servants in all
nations and tribes. We must do the work and deliver the message of salvation to
all nations, despite the treats of terrorism in our world today. We are called to proclaim the message.
EBOLA: We give thanks to God Almighty for
his grace and the gift of knowledge and science. When Ebola first hit the Land
of Sierra Leone on May 25 2014, people initially thought that it will not go
that far . Until, towards the end of last year when everybody was panic as if
the virus was going to sweep everybody in a twinkle of an eye. Thank God for
the international bodies and health workers who sacrifice their time,
resources, and even lives to finally contend the virus? Today sierra Leone is thirty
days [ 30] since the last patience was discharge from the treatment center.
Should this results continue, we are hoping that by November 8 Sierra Leone
will be 42 days , and the expected announcement from WHO will come that :- “SIERRA LEONE IS EBOLA FREE” this is
our prayers. Friends please pray along with us. When that happens, we will all
experience freedom of travelling without coming down from the vehicle for Ebola
thermometer check or walk through the narrow path. “Yes the narrow paths we
have walked in months past have led us to the results we are experiencing
today.
While we are
celebrating this, we must also remember that there are survivors, who have to
wait for six to nine months, before they are declare truly free from the virus.
Some of our members were affected by this, we are looking for a way to render
some help to caution their sufferings. For those in North America, you can
designate your gift for Ebola recovery through the World mission, Fund code
806137.
VISIT BY WEST AFRICA DIRECTOR: September 29 to Oct. 13, were days of encouragement,
as we were visited by Mr. Ron Geerlings the CRWM West Africa director. Beside
his visit to Sierra Leone, together with him we visited Liberia, with the Bassa
minister Association [BMA], with us was Morris Sonnie, a Liberia who came to
Sierra Leone during the War, he has the desire to go and work among his people
the VAI tribe. It was a very fruitful visit. God willing Morris will be
returning to work in Liberia in the first quarter of next year. The Vai people
are predominantly Muslims. Their county
share boundary with Sierra Leone in the South and east.
CRC SL MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING: The desire to have a multipurpose ,
training and denominational building which will serve as a church and also
offices for the CRC SL is ongoing, the foundation is completed, we are hoping
to begin the building soon . We are still appealing to you all to come to our
aid to enable us accomplish this noble task. The Church members on their own
were able to challenge themselves to begin the work. Besides embarking on the work,
it has become necessary that we protect and secure the property from being
taking over by the authorities, if it’s not developed, especially looking at
its strategy location in Kabala town. As can be seen in the pictures below, the
workers completing the foundation work on the first phase of the building,
which has six rooms and a basement to be use as a store. The structure is
divided into three sections: namely, the office, the hall [for worship] and
training facilities. Friends, as you pray to support us in this kingdom work,
the CRWM fund code for this project is 805818. We appreciate your supports
always.
BAPTISM IN KABALA CHURCH: As the Lord continue to call people
into his kingdom, more are giving their lives to Christ and are being added
into the membership of the church. This is done through the sacrament of Holy
Baptism. On Sunday October 18, Angels and indeed the church militant rejoiced
over the souls that were added. Eleven people were baptized at the Kabala
Church. We give glory and honor to God Almighty for these souls that are saved.
Some of them come from a Muslims family, so they need our prayers for them to
endure to the end.
NANFAYIE SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT: This school project is supported by
Smithers CRC in BC, we give thanks to God, and the work is almost 60%
completed. Because of the heavy down pour this year, the work has to be stop
for two months because the roads were so bad. We are hoping to continue as soon
as the rain stops, in the next few weeks.
WOMEN DAY: One inclusive practice that is very
common among the churches in Sierra Leone is setting a day [Sunday] for various
groups in the Church. Namely: Women, men, youth, Children etc. Sunday October
25 was yet another Sunday for the CRC Kabala women fellowship annual
thanksgiving service. The event was colorful to the Glory of God‘s name. They
all appear in their attires [uniform] colorfully designed with the CRC SL Logo
with an inscription CRC Kabala women Fellowship. The theme for this year was “The
responsibilities of the Women in the Church today”. Mrs. Jemimah Bahago was the
preacher of the day. Text was from Titus. 2:3-5.Which reminded the women of
their roles in the family as well as the community. They were challenged to be
proactive in speaking out against evil practices in the society more especially
on early child marriage, Girl child Education, and to live a godly and
exemplary life for the younger to emulate a good life style that give honor and
glory to God. They should also be submissive to their Husband. Various churches
within Kabala sent in their representatives to grace the activities. It was
rounded up by an offering competition among the three cell groups of the
church. The intention was for them to challenge each other to the importance of
giving to support the ministry of the church through the women fellowship.
